David Isaacks, FACHE, Executive Director, VA Sunshine Healthcare Network (VISN 8), U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, has been appointed to the Council of Regents, the legislative body of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

With an understanding of ACHE’s policies, programs and services, the Council harnesses its collective skill and will to advance ACHE’s vision, mission, and values. The Council of Regents provides advice and counsel to the Board of Governors and has the important responsibility of electing the Board of Governors and its Chair. It is through the Council’s support that the Board of Governors can steer the national organization and carry out ACHE’s mission to advance our members and healthcare leadership excellence.

Isaacks began his Council of Regents duties on March 23, 2024. As a Regent, Isaacks will represent ACHE’s membership in District 6 Uniformed Services/Veterans Affairs.  He has served as the Executive Director of VISN 8 since October 2022 where he oversees the delivery of health care to nearly 800,000 Veterans and an operating budget of $9.2 billion. He joined the VA in 2006 and has served in several leadership roles in Florida, Missouri, and Kansas.

Isaacks is a Fellow of ACHE, VHA Certified Mentor, and Excellence in Government Senior Fellow, a graduate of the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Leadership Institute – Class of 2008, a 2003 U.S. Marine Corps Institute Graduate, and a certified LEAN Black Belt.  Most recently, he was recognized in October 2022 with the Meritorious Presidential Rank Award and March 2022 with the ACHE VA Regents Senior Healthcare Award. Isaacks is a proud Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Located in Tampa, Florida, the VA Sunshine Healthcare Network (VISN 8) is the nation’s largest system of hospitals and clinics serving a population of more than 1.4 million Veterans in a vast 64,153 square mile area spread across 79 counties in Florida, South Georgia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. VISN 8’s seven healthcare systems include eight Joint Commission-accredited VA medical centers and more than 90 outpatient clinic locations. More than 35,000 full-time employees work at these facilities, providing a full range of high quality, cost-effective medical, psychiatric, and extended care services in an inpatient, outpatient, nursing home, and home care settings. In 2023, more than 640,000 patients actively used VISN 8 facilities while completing 9.3 million outpatient visits.
